Chronometer 27

Timekeeping was once a discipline devoted to the pursuit of pure accuracy, and it was to this end that so-called “observatory watches” were created. These timepieces achieved exceptional precision across all key aspects of movement performance; however, visual finishing was of secondary importance.

As chance would have it, Kari Voutilainen came across several observatory movements manufactured by Longines, featuring a rare rectangular architecture and left unfinished since their original production.

After careful examination, he decided to create a very limited series of wristwatches built around these exceptional calibres.

Each movement is entirely dismantled, with numerous new components newly fabricated, then meticulously adjusted and tested before being hand-finished with anglage, perlage, gilding and frosting, achieving the highest levels of visual and technical excellence. Once this process is complete, each watch is fitted with a finely engine-turned dial, as well as a case and hands crafted in the distinctive style of the Voutilainen workshop.
