This watch was, more or less, Kari Voutilainen’s first fully fledged experience of using an existing calibre for one of his watches. A client approached Kari Voutilainen with the movement and its components in a box, requesting the creation of a very discreet minute-repeater wristwatch—one that would not attract visual attention. In this respect, the request was successfully fulfilled, as it is difficult to recognise this watch as a repeater unless one examines it very closely. Part of the reason this wristwatch appears somewhat “invisible” as a repeater from the exterior is that there is no visible slide; instead, the repeater is activated by turning the bezel. traduire

One of the issues was to create the hand-setting mechanism within a very limited space. As is the case with any repeater, working with gongs is also a very time-consuming part in making these kinds of watches because they need to be perfectly adjusted for sound quality and pitch. This means that for every change you make to the sound, such as the rhythm, pitch or other aspects of the repeater’s mechanism, it will require some form of removing or adjusting parts of the intricate movement and reassembling them.
